Mum’s the word! Flexible work at Hay Hampers

In the ever-changing, global world we live in, keeping up with new needs, possibilities and lifestyles is becoming more and more difficult.

In a family-run business as Hay Hampers we have introduced smart working

For many working mums, the extra demands a child makes on their time can play havoc with their work availabilities and schedules.

So in a family-run and family-friendly company such as Hay Hampers, we have introduced flexible working hours, which allows us to tap into a pool of talented staff often overlooked by most of employers.

The majority of us at Hay Hampers are mothers who have school age children. We have a physical office at our headquarters, The Taste House, but also an individual office set up at home to enable us to work from there if and when we need to. Luckily nowadays new technologies and smart devices can help us a lot be more flexible at work.

The idea behind smart working is to give people autonomy and flexibility in choosing where, when, and how to work, focusing on results and outcomes. Everybody has the same number of hours in a day – time is the only thing that everyone has an equivalent amount of. It all just depends on how you want to spend it.

Research has shown that people are more productive when they are able to work in a way that suits them best. In addition to this, people are more loyal and happier, which really is the most important thing.

As a gift company, we always strive for happiness as only a happy business can make their customers happy!
