Reuse And Recycle: what to do when goodies are gone

Here at Hay Hampers, we are always looking at the work we do and trying to find ways to improve and reduce our environmental footprint.

Recently we have introduced a new cotton bag that our chocolate chip biscotti come packaged in. We like to think that you will find a way to make use of it after the goodies inside are gone, but we appreciate an extra bit of inspiration is always helpful! So here are some of the ways we are making use of it.

Regift!

Fill the bag with more goodies and pass the love forward by regifting! Some ideas of what to put in the bag to regift include; sweets, homemade biscuits, homemade jam (in a jar!), maybe a homemade hotchocolate mix with hot chocolate & marshamallows.

Pretty-fy

Wrap a simple jam jar in the bag and fill with flowers, these are from the garden and they make a natural and pretty display – much nicer than just a jam jar.

Upcycle

Upcycle it by wrapping it around a plant pot and add a bit more drama and style to a plain item.

Practical application

We have found it useful to carry all sorts of items in our handbags. Maybe a pencil case, or to keep a notebook and pen in, a selection of first aid items, carry a selection of snacks in to keep the children from moaning about being hungry or even a makeup bag.
