'Brie Mine' – Melting Brie Heart starter for Valentine’s Day meal

One of the world's best-known soft cheeses, Brie originated in north-east France, but is now made all over the world. Ours comes from Cotswold, it is organic and enhanced with this easy to make and great for Valentine’s Day recipe.

1 Brie
1 jar black truffle sauce
2 tbs flour
1 egg
1 handful breadcrumbs
1 handful hazelnuts, crushed (optional)
rapeseed oil to fry

Cut the Brie into a heart shape.
Cut in half horizontally and spread with our black truffle pate for added indulgence.
Wrap loosely in clingfilm and place in the freezer for a minimum of 2 hours to ensure easier to panné with breadcrumbs
Once firm, prepare three bowls; one with flour, one with beaten eggs and one with breadcrumbs (we used blitzed up sourdough with hazelnuts for additional flavour and luxury)
Put a frying pan with 0.5 cm of rapeseed oil on the hob on a medium heat.
Unwrap the heart, dip first in the flour, then the egg, then the breadcrumb. If you like you can repeat the egg and breadcrumb for a thicker crust.
Shallow fry in the oil until golden brown on all sides. It will have defrosted and be oozing in the middle whilst retaining its heart shape.

Serve with a fresh salad and some caramelised onion relish for a delicious Valentines start to a romantic meal for two at home.
