2016 is the Year of the Monkey according to the Chinese calendar and it begins on Monday 8th February this year.

Each Chinese New Year is inspired by one of twelve animals which appears in the Chinese zodiac. The Chinese zodiac is divided into twelve 12 blocks or houses and each house has a time-length of one year instead of one month like its western counterpart. The Year of the Monkey is the ninth animal in the cycle and the next Year of the Monkey will be in 2028.

In Chinese astrology, the twelve animal zodiac signs have unique features. People born under the monkey sign are supposed to be quick-witted, charming, lucky, adaptable, bright, versatile, lively and smart.

The festivities, also known as the Spring Festival, usually start the day before the New Year and continue until the Lantern Festival, the 15th day of the New Year.

Shall we celebrate it together with our range of gifts?
