Accurate addresses and signature for receipt of gift
Please ensure all addresses are accurate to include postal town and postcode, together with recipient’s telephone number. Inaccurate addresses will inevitably cause delay and incur an additional delivery charge. We are unable to deliver to BFPO and P O Box numbers. Our liability is limited to delivery to the building, not individual recipients. All gifts need to be signed for, so it may be better to deliver to the recipient’s work address, if no-one is in at home.
Next Day Delivery
Orders received by 12 noon GMT time can be dispatched on the same day delivery the next working day to UK mainland addresses.
Orders received before 12noon on a Friday, will be delivered during working hours on Monday. We do not send fresh food out on a Friday.
We make no extra charge for this service.
CG30 and CG31 are sent by Royal Mail packet post and take 2-3 days to arrive.
Northern Ireland, The Scottish Highlands and all offshore islands are a two day service with surcharges as listed below.
Christmas Delivery
We guarantee Christmas delivery to UK mainland for all orders received up to and including 7th December, providing someone is available to receive the gifts. Any orders received after this date will be subject to availability, which we will confirm. Last dates for overseas orders are:
- 30th November for Eire and Europe
- 15th November for the rest of the world
Christmas deliveries will be despatched from lst to 22nd December.
We cannot despatch Christmas fresh food such as cheeses before lst December.
Smoked salmon and ham will be despatched the third week in December.
We schedule Christmas orders in December starting with non-perishable foods. We are unable to guarantee a specific time or day for delivery unless it has been accepted and agreed in writing with the Directors before 7th December.
Recipients who are unable to accept or sign for their parcel will be left a card to telephone the courier to agree a suitable day for delivery/collection. However, during the week before Christmas, due to the volume of parcels being delivered, the courier requests permission to leave the goods in a safe place.

Delivery times
Standard Delivery Times
Deliveries are made between 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays). We do not deliver fresh food on a Monday.
Preferred Deliver by date
You can select a preferred deliver by date up to three months in advance of the date and we always do our best to deliver your gift by your preferred date. For Christmas deliveries, please see Christmas Delivery section.
We regret that we are unable to guarantee a day or time of delivery due to scheduling that is outside our control.
Saturday & Timed Next Day Service
We can deliver on a Saturday if your order is placed before 12 noon (GMT) on the Friday before. Saturday delivery is an additional charge of (£30.00 + £6.00 vat @ 20%). This service is for UK mainland only.
Timed next day deliveries can be arranged for an additional charge:
9.00 am for an additional £36.00 ££30.00 plus £6.00 vat @ 20%)
10.30 am for an additional £24.00 (£20.00 plus £4.00 vat @ 20%)
12 noon for an additional £12.00 (£10.00 plus £2.00 vat @ 20%)

Bulk delivery to one address

Large orders to one address can be sent on the pallets via our courier. Alternatively these may be delivered by our own transport on a pre-arranged date and location.

All our prices quoted are for UK mainland destinations for next working day delivery or by your preferred deliver by date.

We do not send fresh food items to Highlands, Islands or Overseas addresses as they take two or more days to be delivered.
Scottish Highlands & offshore islands – 48hr service
Delivery to these postcodes are surcharged by £21.00 per parcel (£17.50 + £3.50 vat @ 20% ).

We cannot be held responsible for any local customs delays, requirements or duties chargeable.
Protective packaging
All our food and wine gifts are packed in strong containers: colourful cartons in red, blue or green, wood boxes, wicker baskets and cool bags. Depending on the contents of your gift, we usually pack glass items in bubble wrap and use either wood wool or polystyrene to protect your gift in transit. The whole gift and container is then enclosed in a strong cardboard outer.
Insured and tracked
The gifts are dispatched via courier, are insured and tracked. The delivery driver will need a signature for receipt of gift, so it is important to ensure there will be someone at the recipient’s address during working hours (Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm)
Fresh Food
Fresh food gifts are not dispatched on a Friday. We do not send gifts containing perishable fresh food items to the Scottish Highlands and offshore islands, Isle of Man & Isles of Scilly, Isle of Wight, Northern Ireland, Channel Islands, Europe or Worldwide. All fresh food is sent on next day delivery and we ask that you try and ensure that someone will be in to take delivery of the gift hamper and to open it and refrigerate the fresh perishable food items immediately.
Non Delivery arrangements:
Recipient not in and no-one to sign for gift
The driver will leave a card at the address with contact information for redelivery or collection. Any parcel which has been carded and not delivered or collected within five working days from date of dispatch is automatically returned to Hay Hampers.
We cannot be held responsible for any perishable foods if the recipient does not contact the courier immediately on receipt of the calling card.
Redirection charges
The courier charges a redirection fee of £12.00 (£10.00 + 2.00 vat @ 20%) if required to be delivered to another address once in transit.
Re-send fee
If a gift is returned to us and needs to be re-sent a courier fee of £12.00 (£10.00 + £2.00 vat @ 20%), plus any fresh food needing to be replaced, will be charged.
Claims for loss or damage
Delivery services have significantly improved in recent years, so in the unlikely event of damage or loss in transit, we will replace the damaged contents or gift immediately free of charge providing the following:
- The goods are signed for upon receipt as damaged or have been refused because of obvious damage
- The courier and ourselves are informed at once and it is confirmed by the recipient to us in writing within a reasonable time of delivery quoting reference number on the parcel. Our couriers recommend that any damage which cannot be seen from the outside must be notified to Fedex/ANC & Hay Hampers in writing within 7 days.
- Damaged goods must be retained for inspection and it may be required that they be returned to us at our expense before replacement or refund.
- All claims must be submitted within a reasonable time. Our couriers recommend a maximum of fourteen days.
- Returned goods must clearly show the full name, address and telephone number of the sender.
- We cannot accept responsibility for the wrong order or non-delivery, resulting from incorrect information or addresses being provided.
